MOT Testing in Brighton

All UK vehicles three years old and over require a valid MOT certificate by law. An MOT is a standardised annual test, set by the Vehicle Inspectorate, to make sure your vehicle meets all the legal requirements for safe road use. It is a legal requiremnt to hold a valid MOT certificate for any vehicle on the UK roads. This is to ensure that your vehicle meets road safety and environmental standards.

Any vehicle over 3 years old is required to have an annual test from the anniversay of its registration.

Rivervale are authorised to MOT test Cars and Light Commercial Vehicles (Trucks, Minibuses and Vans) up to Class 7.

All Brighton & Hove Hackney Carriage taxis, private hire cars and their drivers and operators are licensed by the council annually. Vehicles are subject to age limits and mechanical tests. In 2024 Rivervale were awarded authorisation by Brighton and Hove City Council to carry out MOT testing for Private Hire Taxis.
